ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL — January 26th — At the 150-mile marker of the Florida Turnpike northbound, the St. Lucie County Fire District was called to a three-car motor vehicle incident. When crews arrived, they saw two vehicles severely damaged and one flipped over. After stabilizing the vehicles, firefighters finished extricating two patients. Four patients in all were assessed on the spot.
Three trauma alerts—two from ground units and one from St. Lucie County Air Rescue—were sent to a nearby trauma facility. Transport was declined by one patient. The Florida Highway Patrol is looking into what caused it. In order to enhance patient care and road safety, the reaction involved coordinated efforts involving fire, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and air medical teams.
