Chesterfield responds to fatal crash

CHESTERFIELD,VA-One person has died and another has been arrested after a motor vehicle crash in the 4400 block of Beulah Road, on Feb. 19.

It all began around 8:50 a.m., when Engine 203 and Medic 211, along with county police were dispatched to a serious crash.

Crews arriving on scene found a 2009 Dodge Charger that had struck a tree.

Police said that the 2009 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Beulah when it left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Police officials said the passenger sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

According to police officials, Luis Adolfo Llerena Leon, 22, of Floyd Ave., in Richmond, was arrested and charged with DUI and DUI Manslaughter in relation to the crash and is being held in Chesterfield County Jail without bond.

The name of the passenger is being withheld pending notification of next to kin.
