JAY, FL — February 17th — In collaboration with Santa Rosa County Emergency Management, the Jay Volunteer Fire Department (13444 Highway 89, Jay, FL, 32565) trained EREC employees in CPR and AED use. Identifying cardiac arrest, dialing 9-1-1, and administering care before first responders arrive were the main topics of the course. AED use, adult and infant choking response skills, and chest compressions were all practiced by the participants.

During cardiac emergencies, early CPR and defibrillation can greatly increase survival, according to national public safety and health groups. According to department officials, training and outreach improve community preparedness and facilitate quicker intervention. Throughout Santa Rosa County, the Jay Volunteer Fire Department urged citizens and neighborhood organizations to pursue CPR training and keep improving their lifesaving abilities.
