Technical Rescue Skills Tested in Florida

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — January 27th — The Special Operations Team of Sarasota County Emergency Services declared that it participated in the 2026 Rope Rescue Challenge in Orlando, Florida. Technical rescue teams gathered at the regional event to assess operational readiness, coordination, and expertise through timed, realistic rescue scenarios. After fighting against seasoned teams from throughout the region, the Sarasota squad finished fourth overall.


Among the members were Firefighter Pablo Leon, Firefighter Blaze Belligan, Lt. Maxx Jakimer, Lt. Paul Olson, Lt. Dave Brooks, Lt. Sean Kingsley, and Lt. Bryan Rees. Rope systems, anchor construction, patient packaging, and safe rescue techniques were the main topics of the scenarios. According to department officials, such gatherings enhance readiness, foster teamwork, and encourage continuous training. The members were honored by Sarasota County Emergency Services for their departmental representation and continued preparedness for intricate technical rescue situations.
