THOMASTON, GA — February 5th — When Thomaston, Georgia's Thurston Volunteer Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene of a reported structure fire, they saw fire emanating from the chimney and back porch. In order to prevent extension into the house, crews promptly extended a handline and started suppression operations. Firefighters contained the fire and caused minimal damage to the porch area outside.

There were no reported casualties, and the house's interior was secure. According to officials, preventing additional harm required early notice and well-coordinated operations. The fire departments from Manchester, Northside, Rock Hill, and Lincoln Park offered mutual aid. According to department heads, the Thomaston community's safe and efficient emergency response is still supported by great teamwork and regional cooperation.
