One Confirmed Dead After Morning Duplex Fire in Pensacola

PENSACOLA, FL - On January 21st, Escambia County Fire Rescue responded at 8:56 a.m. to a reported duplex fire in the 900 block of Breman Avenue after receiving multiple calls reporting heavy smoke, flames, and possible entrapment. Fire and EMS crews arrived to find extensive fire damage in the multi-residential structure. Firefighters conducted suppression and search operations. During the interior search, rescuers discovered one victim, who was later confirmed deceased. The fire was brought under control by 9:42 a.m.


Both units of the duplex sustained significant damage. One resident was displaced and received assistance from the American Red Cross. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Florida Power & Light, and Emergency Services Gulf Coast Ladder 34 also assisted at the scene. The Bureau of Fire and Arson is investigating the cause.
