The Rhinebeck fire department was dispatched at 5:40 AM this morning for a reported personal injury auto accident on the Route 9G overpass over Route 308. The accident involved a NYS DOT work crew clearing the shoulders of the bridge of accumulated snow buildup.

A northbound vehicle on Route 9G entered the work area and crashed into a DOT front end loader being used in the snow clearing operation. The driver of the passenger vehicle refused medical assistance and the operator of the DOT front end loader was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital by Rhinebeck ambulance for medical evaluation.

Route 9G was closed for approximately 45 minutes, with traffic being detoured to alternate routes. Assisting on the scene were the DC Sheriff, NYS DOT, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
