SHELDON, NY — January 30th — To stay up to date on life-saving techniques, members of the Harris Corners Fire Department, located at 585 US-20A, Strykersville, NY, underwent CPR recertification training. Updated American Heart Association guidelines, patient assessment, and practical experience with adult, child, and infant CPR as well as automated external defibrillator use were all covered in the session.

In rural locations where early CPR and defibrillation might improve survivability, regular recertification helps ensure firemen are prepared to help during medical emergencies. Harris Corners works closely with EMS partners throughout Wyoming County and responds to a variety of calls. Members continue to get priority training, which keeps them ready to care for and assist residents and guests as needed.
