January 30, 2026 — At 3:53 p.m., the Waldoboro Fire Department was alerted to a tractor-trailer fire on Ralph’s Hill along Route 1. First arriving units reported the tractor portion of the vehicle fully involved in flames. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and worked to contain and extinguish the intense blaze as thick black smoke billowed into the sky. Route 1 was closed for just over four hours to allow crews to safely operate and to facilitate cleanup efforts. Mutual aid assistance was provided by Jefferson Fire & Rescue, Nobleboro Fire and Rescue, Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, and Warren Tiger Engine Company. Despite the severity of the fire and the frigid evening conditions, no injuries were reported. The department also extended its thanks to Automaster Collision Center, Tyler’s Towing, and the Maine Department of Transportation for their assistance in clearing the scene and reopening the roadway.
