BANTAM, CT - On January 22nd at 10:06 p.m., the Bantam Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire at 1351 Bantam Road. Mutual help was dispatched, with the Litchfield Fire Department, Litchfield Ambulance Association, Inc., and Torrington Fire Department providing RIT coverage. A second alarm was requested while the units were en route.

Engine 36 arrived at 10:17 p.m. to find major fire in a single-family residence. The snowy driveway and prolonged access posed operating issues. Three handlines were deployed, and a tanker shuttle was established to secure water supply in the non-hydranted area.

An interior attack brought the fire under control at 11:01 p.m. Residents evacuated safely. The Town of Litchfield Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. Crews cleared the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m.
