February 6, 2026 — The Appling County Fire Department Station 11 is mourning the loss of Mr. Steve Baxley, a dedicated and respected member of the EMA/Rescue community whose steady voice and unwavering commitment served as a lifeline during countless emergencies. Known for his calm demeanor over the radio and his ability to ensure that help reached those in need without hesitation, Mr. Baxley played a vital role in coordinating emergency responses when every second mattered. Colleagues and first responders recall his professionalism, reliability, and genuine care for the community he served. His contributions did not go unnoticed, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. The department extends its heartfelt gratitude for his years of service and offers sincere condolences to his family, friends, and fellow responders during this difficult time.
