WATERTOWN, MA — January 25th — A morning chimney fire on Mount Auburn Street was responded to by the Watertown Fire Department, located at 99 Main Street, Watertown, MA, United States, 02472. In order to minimize water damage to the house and put out the fire inside the flue, arriving companies utilized a specialized chimney nozzle. Without opening walls or ceilings, the instrument enables workers to move water upward into the chimney. Deputy Chief A. Geswell was the Incident Commander, and Group 2 was on duty. There were no reported injuries. According to fire officials, creosote accumulation frequently results in chimney fires. Residents are urged to use seasoned firewood to lower risk and to have wood-burning stoves inspected and cleaned once a year.
