CAMBRIDGE, MA — January 13th — During a third alarm fire on Cottage Street, Box 3-134, the Cambridge, Massachusetts Fire Department, 491 Broadway, Cambridge, MA, United States, 02138, assigned Engine 5 to move to Chelsea in order to cover Engine 2. The move-up task was managed by the on-duty Cambridge Group 3.

Several engine and ladder companies, command staff, and mutual aid partners are dispatched to the scene of third alarm fires in Chelsea. While Chelsea firemen worked at the working fire, Engine 5 arrived to make sure station coverage was maintained. This kind of regional advancement is a component of Metro Boston's well-established mutual aid system. During prolonged situations, the coordinated strategy aids in preserving emergency response coverage in both cities.
