MARLBOROUGH, MA — February 4th — In order to help the Marlborough Fire Department evacuate patients from Marlborough Hospital, the Ashland Fire Department dispatched C1 and Ambulance 2 to the District 14C Task Force. To facilitate patient mobility and ensure continuity of care, several MetroWest task committees stepped in. In order to ensure safe transfers to reception facilities, crews collaborated with hospital personnel.

Clear communication, resource tracking, and well-organized transport parties are necessary for large-scale evacuations. The response established mutual aid plans and proved the efficacy of the regional task force structure. Later that day, Ashland units evacuated the scene and resumed operations after finishing duties and making sure patients were moved.
