ASHLAND, MA — February 4th — After an injury-inflicted fall in Ashland, the Ashland Fire Department took a patient to a Massachusetts State Police landing zone in Framingham for transfer to Boston MedFlight. The typical helicopter landing spots were restricted by snow-covered fields near town, so crews utilized the state police position because it was accessible and secure. Ground operations coordination and landing zone security were aided by the Framingham Fire Department. The choice of landing zone may be impacted by winter weather, necessitating careful agency coordination. Without any delay, the patient was moved to the flight crew. After operations were over, units cleared the area and went back to work.
