ASHLAND, MA — January 19th — In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy, the Ashland Fire Department celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Dr. King led the civil rights movement, advancing respect for all people, equality, and service. Many people in public safety are still guided by his teaching that helping others is one of life's greatest callings.


Across the country, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed as a day of service to promote volunteerism and community duty. The ceremony symbolizes the firefighters' and first responders' everyday dedication to preserving lives and property.
