Ice Rescue Performed After Vehicle Enters Pond in Niverville

NIVERVILLE, NY - The Niverville Fire Department responded to a one-car accident in which the vehicle entered a pond with unknown passengers on February 2nd. Within two minutes, Car 2 arrived and took leadership, confirming that one individual was partially through the ice. Two ice rescue technicians were dispatched to enter the vehicle and safely remove the patient. Due to cold and medical concerns, the patient was carried by Stokes basket to an ambulance waiting for him from the Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad. Crews worked carefully on the ice, coordinating rescue and patient treatment.
