On February 3, Amherst Fire and EMS responded to many incidents as the community's need grew due to the cold weather. Crews responded to three medical calls and two reported fire situations. Both fire complaints were investigated and found to be furnace-related issues, with no active fires detected. Fire and EMS personnel collaborated with mutual assistance partners to ensure coverage and fast response. Officials warned that colder temperatures place more demand on heating systems, frequently resulting in emergency calls.
