January 28, 2026 — Bay County, Florida — Community volunteers with the Bay County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) stepped up this week to support Rebuild Bay County Inc. by helping operate a warming shelter at the A.D. Harris Learning Village, located at 819 E. 11th Street. With freezing temperatures impacting the area, the shelter has provided a safe, warm place for residents in need and will remain open nightly as conditions warrant.

CERT members assisted with shelter operations, food service, and general support, ensuring guests were cared for during the cold weather event. County officials expressed gratitude for the dedication and teamwork shown by the volunteers, noting that their efforts played a critical role in protecting vulnerable community members during hazardous weather conditions.

Additional volunteers are still needed to help relieve CERT members, and those interested are encouraged to sign up through the county’s volunteer portal.
