January 5, 2026 — Baker County Fire Rescue firefighters from Station 50 spent part of the holiday weekend working alongside the American Red Cross to improve home fire safety across the community. Together, the teams canvassed approximately 60 homes, making seven homes safer and positively impacting 11 individuals through direct prevention efforts.
The initiative included installing free smoke detectors, discussing fire escape plans with residents, and identifying potential fire hazards, helping deliver not only lifesaving equipment but also greater peace of mind and preparedness.
Baker County Fire Rescue, which serves the community around the clock, received appreciation from the American Red Cross for its dedication and service, with Red Cross representatives noting that these efforts truly save lives and make a meaningful difference for families throughout the county.
