Bellingham, WA — January 19th — In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, legacy, and enduring influence on public service, the Bellingham Fire Department observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day. According to department leaders, Dr. King's appeal for equality, service, and togetherness embodies principles that firemen use every day throughout the community.

In the fire department, where cooperation, equity, and respect are crucial, Dr. King's statement that "Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal" still has significance. "The day serves as a reminder to serve all residents with dignity and professionalism while supporting a safe and inclusive community," said the Bellingham Fire Department, which is located at 1800 Broadway.
