Wareham, MA — January 31st — To get firefighters ready for cold weather emergencies, the Wareham Fire Department held a winter training session that concentrated on ice rescue operations. Crews rehearsed deploying the ice rescue boat and removing victims from simulated icy water conditions during the evolution.

The emphasis of the training was on coordinated rescue procedures, safe movement on ice, and the use of appropriate equipment. Fire officials cautioned the public that no ice should be regarded as safe unless it is a designated ice rink and emphasized that ice conditions might change quickly. To stay prepared for a variety of situations, the Wareham Fire Department holds seasonal training. Additionally, the agency expressed gratitude to A.D. Makepeace Company for granting permission to use its land for the training in a secure setting.
