Bethel, CT — February 2nd —Members of Bethel Fire & EMS gathered Monday night at their headquarters on South Street for the first session of a new "Back to Basics" training series scheduled for 2026. The exercise was held in the truck room and aimed to improve familiarity with the apparatus, tools, and equipment carried by each unit.
The deputy chief, fire lieutenants, and department engineers led the training, guiding members through the location and function of the vehicles' gear. The seminar was aimed to help new recruits while also providing a refresher for experienced firefighters. The drill ended with a review of proposed changes to standard operating procedures and new radio protocols. According to department officials, forthcoming training will include a cold water rescue drill on February 9th with surrounding first responders.
