February 6, 2026 — Local fire officials advised residents this morning that outdoor burning is permitted today; however, increasing wind gusts expected later in the afternoon may approach thresholds that make burning unsafe. Authorities urged residents who choose to burn to exercise extra caution by limiting activity to one manageable pile at a time, keeping water or proper fire-control tools readily available, and ensuring all fires are fully extinguished at least one hour before dark with no visible smoke remaining. Officials emphasized that responsible burning practices are essential to prevent uncontrolled fires and to help protect the community.
