Westmere, NY — January 18th —The Westmere Fire Department expanded their community engagement efforts following a connection made during previous holiday caroling events. During the event, firefighters met members of the local community group Maur Movement, and they formed a new friendship based on shared ideals and service.

Following the initial meeting, the department invited the Maur Movement and one of its members, Javiar, to the fire station for an orientation of the department and its members. Firefighters greeted the group and spent time getting to know each other in a calm, informal manner.
