Fire Crews Contain Residential Structure Fire, Investigation Underway

January 20, 2026 — Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded at approximately 9:25 a.m. to a reported working fire at a single-family residential home. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered active fire conditions and immediately initiated fire suppression and primary search operations.
Crews were able to place water on the fire quickly, bringing the blaze under control within 10 minutes and beginning ventilation efforts to clear smoke from the structure. One individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and three residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
Gainesville Fire Rescue is working with the American Red Cross to assist those affected. Following an initial investigation, the fire is suspected to be the result of arson, and authorities are actively investigating the incident.
