February 3, 2026 — Firefighters from Macclenny Fire & Rescue and Baker County Fire Rescue responded Tuesday night to reports of a structure fire with explosions in the 1000 block of Persimmons Road. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions involving a fully engulfed detached garage, with flames threatening nearby exposures including a residence and two campers.
Firefighters immediately deployed two pre-connected hose lines and initiated an aggressive fire attack while managing multiple hazards, including several small propane tanks actively flaring. A four-apparatus water supply operation was established, allowing both departments to work seamlessly together. The fire was brought under control within approximately 23 minutes of arrival, successfully saving all exposed structures. While no injuries were reported, the homeowners suffered a total loss of the contents inside the large storage garage.
Fire officials expressed appreciation for the coordinated response and extended their thoughts to the affected family as they begin recovery efforts.
