The Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue Department responded to a fire at PSI Molded Plastics on Wickers Drive on Thursday evening, January 22nd. At around 6:28 p.m., the department was notified of a fire involving a building-attached waste compactor. Employees had already departed before the fire service arrived. The first firefighters arrived to found considerable smoke coming from the compactor and nearby portions of the facility and requested a first alarm assignment.

Firefighters gained entry and discovered a fire extension inside the structure, with the sprinkler system operational. Two handlines, combined with the sprinkler system, were able to prevent further extension. At around 7:37 p.m., the fire was brought under control.

Fire damage was contained to the compactor area, although smoke damage was recorded throughout the facility. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue received assistance from various mutual aid agencies, Stewart's Ambulance Service, and Wolfeboro Police. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office are still investigating the cause, which is thought to be an accident.
