Station 2 Crew Recognized One Year After Medical Call

Mashpee, MA — February 4th — Exactly one year ago, personnel of the Mashpee Fire Department arrived in the early morning hours to a report of an unconscious patient who was not breathing, with CPR already underway. Upon arrival, Mashpee Police officers and the patient's spouse were performing CPR. Firefighters and EMTs from Station 2 took over patient care, secured an airway, and used a cardiac monitor to detect a shocking rhythm. Crews administered a defibrillation shock and performed high-quality CPR before transporting the patient to Cape Cod Hospital. The patient later made a full recovery. On February 4th, firefighters had the opportunity to reunite with the patient and his family, reinforcing the importance of early CPR and defibrillation.
