Shirley NY – On Wednesday February 3, 2021 at about 10:10 AM the Suffolk County Police and Mastic Beach Ambulance Company responded to a vehicle VS Pole On Beacon St off Amar Drive. On arrival officers from the Suffolk Police 7th Precinct Officers found a vehicle had struck a pole and the driver had left the scene. The Brookhaven Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene as well.
Brookhaven FD 1st Assistant Chief Anthony Verni was the 1st member of his department on the scene. Rescue 4 advised they were responding in with a driver, 1 Class A and 2 Probationary Firefighters. As per Suffolk PD they did not want the vehicle moved out of the road so Chief Verni advised Rescue 4 to just have the men secure the vehicle and bring speedy dry up with them to clean up some fluids. Chief Verni also advised his dispatch the PSEG would be needed for the damaged pole. No one was taken to the hospital since the driver had left the scene, FD and EMS turned the scene back over to Suffolk Police who continued their investigation and searched Neighboring streets for the driver.
