Barre, MA — January 24th — In the morning, Barre Fire Department's Engine 4 and Chief DiVirgilio arrived as mutual aid to a working fire in the town of Hubbardston. As fireground activities grew and more resources were required, barre units were asked to help.

Engine 4 was tasked with supporting suppression operations after reporting to command upon arrival. In order to maintain proper staffing and coverage during active situations, Worcester County fire departments routinely respond to mutual aid requests from nearby areas. Crews had to balance weather-related safety issues with fireground tasks due to the cold winter temperatures at the location. Units released by command returned to service, and there were no reported casualties among Barre personnel.
