Holden, MA — January 31st — A reported structural fire at a business building at 789 Wachusett Street prompted the Holden Fire Department to react. Calls about smoke and fire within the structure were received by the Wachusett Regional Emergency Communications Center. The Holden engine that arrived first verified that there was smoke within the building. Mutual aid from neighboring communities was requested when a working fire was declared.

Firefighters used advanced lines to swiftly put out the fire, limiting damage to the attic area above and an inside wall between two apartments. Fire departments from Rutland, West Boylston, Paxton, and Sterling provided on-site assistance. Station coverage was given by Worcester Fire, Boylston, Leicester, and Spencer Rescue Squad. The State Fire Marshal's Office and the Massachusetts Fire District 8 Fire Investigation Unit are still looking into the fire.
