Grafton, MA — January 25th — Stations 1 and 2 responded to a chimney fire at 3 Greeny Drive, according to the Friends of the Grafton Fire Department, which is headquartered at 26 Upton Street in Grafton, Massachusetts. Following reports of a fire at a single-family home caused by a chimney, firefighters were sent out.

When personnel arrived, they looked into and verified that there was a fire in the chimney. In order to make sure the fire had not extended past the flue, firefighters secured the heating system, examined the chimney and surrounding regions for extension, and kept an eye on internal spaces. Crews stayed on the scene to finish inspections and make sure the house was secure before clearing, and ventilation was carried out as needed. There were no reported injuries. The event emphasizes how crucial it is to clean and inspect chimneys on a regular basis throughout the winter heating season.
