Multiple Agencies Assist at Second-Alarm Fire in Gardner

GARDNER, MA - A second-alarm fire at 838 West Broadway was attended to by the Gardner Fire Department on January 29th. When firefighters arrived, they saw a commercial building with a large fire visible through the roof. As further alarms were set off to summon in mutual aid, crews started fighting the fire right away.


Firefighters managed water supplies, hose lines, and exposure protection throughout challenging winter conditions while working for extended periods of time in below-freezing temperatures. Westminster, Ashburnham, Hubbardston, Winchendon, and Templeton offered mutual aid support. During the incident, Gardner fire stations were covered by Athol, Fitchburg, and Leominster to ensure citywide coverage. There were no reported injuries.
