DERRY, NH - On January 27th at approximately 7:07 p.m., the Derry Fire Communications Division received a 911 call reporting a house on fire at 91 Tsienneto Road in the Town of Derry. The initial report of the fire also indicated that one occupant had been removed from the building by a bystander.
The on-duty telecommunication immediately dispatched all Derry resources, Car 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 3, Ladder 4, and Medic 1. Automatic aid was also requested and received, including Londonderry Engine, Londonderry Battalion Chief, and Salem Ambulance.
91 Tsienneto Road is a 1,200-square-foot single-family residence and was occupied by 1 adult at the time of the fire. The first fire department unit arrived on the scene in 4 minutes and 33 seconds and encountered a large amount of smoke and fire in the enclosed porch area on the right side of the residence. Crews initiated an aggressive attack on the fire and conducted a thorough search of the building. Additional resources at the scene included the Derry Fire Marshal and Fire inspector, Derry Police, Derry DPW, and the Windham, Auburn, Chester, Manchester, Hampstead, and Sandown Fire Departments.
The fire was brought under control at 8:00 p.m. Throughout the incident, station coverage was maintained by the Hudson, Nasua, Kingston, and Pelham Fire Departments to ensure continuous service for the community. Off-duty fire department members were called back to the fire stations to assist with several other calls for service.
Fortunately, no occupants or firefighters were seriously injured during the incident. The cause has been determined to be accidental, but remains under investigation.
