Multiple Agencies Respond to Horse Rescue on J. Hammond Road

Charlton, MA — January 21st — According to the Charlton Fire Department, on January 21st, the District 7 Technical Rescue Team was called in to help with a large animal rescue on J. Hammond Road that involved a downed horse that was unable to stand.


The operation was supported by a number of local resources. In order to upright the horse while lowering the risk to both responders and the animal, technical rescue specialists labored to design a safe approach. The horse's veterinarian was on his way to assess the issue, and Charlton Animal Control was on the scene keeping an eye on things. The owners said that despite being impacted by the cold, the horse seemed attentive and unharmed. While activities were ongoing, drivers were urged to use caution in the vicinity.
