Charlton, MA — January 17th — In order to continue its community CPR program, the Charlton Fire Department in Massachusetts certified all of its workers in automated external defibrillator use, choking response, and adult, child, and infant CPR. Lieutenant Maldonado led the training, which concentrated on identifying medical emergencies early and providing emergency care before emergency medical personnel arrived.

Fire and emergency medical services frequently apply nationally recognized emergency medical guidelines, which were followed during instruction. As part of its continuous community outreach initiatives, the Charlton Fire Department maintains an AED at the DPW site. Employees of DPW may come across emergencies while on duty because they frequently work throughout the town. Such initiatives increase the community's pool of trained responders and improve public safety readiness in general.
