Charlton, MA — January 12th — On January 12, the Charlton Fire Department in Massachusetts held its inaugural community CPR class, giving locals access to vital life-saving techniques. Josh Bennett, an EMS officer, assisted Captain Jeff Hamberg in leading the session. The participants were trained in naloxone administration, automated external defibrillator use, choking emergency treatment, and adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Training adhered to nationally accepted emergency medical protocols that are utilized by fire and emergency medical services. In order to enhance outcomes during cardiac arrest and overdose emergencies before responders arrive, community CPR instruction is extensively supported throughout Massachusetts. The Charlton Fire Department enhanced community readiness and reaffirmed the importance of public education in disaster response by holding this course.
