Ashburnham, MA — January 28 — The Ashburnham Fire Department, based at 99 Central Street, responded with Ladder 1 and Car 1 to assist the City of Gardner at a second-alarm fire on West Broadway on January 28th. Ashburnham forces were requested through the regional mutual-aid system to support ongoing fireground operations and command functions.

Second-alarm assignments are utilized to maintain coverage throughout neighboring areas while providing more personnel, equipment, and leadership to working situations. Ashburnham crews collaborated with other mutual-aid partners in a coordinated reaction while operating under Gardner's incident command. While units were engaged in Gardner, Ashburnham Fire maintained continued protection for its own response area.
