Mutual Aid Brings Ashburnham Units to Gardner Scene

Ashburnham, MA — January 28 — The Ashburnham Fire Department, based at 99 Central Street, responded with Ladder 1 and Car 1 to assist the City of Gardner at a second-alarm fire on West Broadway on January 28th. Ashburnham forces were requested through the regional mutual-aid system to support ongoing fireground operations and command functions.


Second-alarm assignments are utilized to maintain coverage throughout neighboring areas while providing more personnel, equipment, and leadership to working situations. Ashburnham crews collaborated with other mutual-aid partners in a coordinated reaction while operating under Gardner's incident command. While units were engaged in Gardner, Ashburnham Fire maintained continued protection for its own response area. At the time of this report, no additional information on injuries or the fire's cause was known.
