January 31, 2026 — Aroostook County Emergency Management (ACEM) conducted a busy and productive weekend of training across the county, delivering both hazardous materials response instruction and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) education.
In Houlton, ACEM instructors provided Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations-level training to regional responders, strengthening local and mutual-aid capabilities for incidents involving dangerous substances. At the same time in Caribou, instructors led CERT training for community members, covering topics such as disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, and emergency medical response.
Despite its small team, ACEM continues to make a countywide impact by offering training opportunities that enhance both professional response and civilian preparedness. Officials noted plans to expand community-focused classes in 2026, with additional sessions expected to be open to the public.
Residents are encouraged to follow Aroostook County Emergency Management’s updates for information on upcoming training opportunities and community programs.
