Council Honors Oceanville Firefighters for December Condo Rescue

OCEANVILLE, NJ - At a Galloway Township Council meeting on January 27th, members of the Oceanville Vol. Fire Company received recognition for their response to a structure fire that occurred on December 10, 2025, in the Smithville area of Galloway Township.
Firefighters Nicholas Stewart and John Parker entered a blazing condominium complex to reach and retrieve an unconscious male occupant, according to statements made during the hearing. The male is still recuperating after being saved and taken to the hospital.
During the presentation, Chief Uhl noted that this marked the second life-saving rescue by Galloway Township firefighters in less than six months, highlighting the value of training and coordinated response.
Along with other mutual aid partners who supported operations throughout the township, the company also thanked Pomona Vol. Fire Co. No. 3, Bayview Vol. Fire Co., Germania Vol. Fire Co., South Egg Harbor Fire Co., Galloway Twp. Ambulance Squad, Galloway Twp. Police Department, and Galloway OEM.
