January 5, 2026 — The Ipswich Fire Department marked a historic milestone Monday with the addition of two new firefighters, increasing on-duty staffing for the first time since the 1970s.
Once fully trained in July, the department will maintain a minimum of four firefighters on duty during daytime shifts, strengthening operational readiness and emergency response capabilities. The staffing increase reflects continued community support and a long-term investment in public safety.
The department welcomed new firefighters Ben Yanakakis and Rob Glavin, who officially joined the ranks this week.
