January 31, 2026— Andover Fire Rescue firefighters took advantage of clear skies and sunshine to conduct ground ladder training, continuing hands-on instruction despite cold winter conditions.
The training focused on ground ladder operations with one of the department’s probationary firefighters. Crews reviewed ladder components, proper raising and lowering techniques, and safe climbing procedures. These evolutions are a critical part of preparing new firefighters for the Massachusetts Fire Academy while reinforcing foundational skills across the department.
Officials noted that while the training was designed to support probationary members, it also served as a valuable refresher for experienced firefighters. Practicing these core operations ensures personnel remain proficient in ladder deployment, a skill frequently used during structure fires, rescues, and other emergency responses.
By conducting training year-round, Andover Fire Rescue continues to emphasize readiness, safety, and professionalism—ensuring firefighters are prepared to operate effectively in all conditions.
