January 28, 2026 — The Barnstable Fire Department marked a major milestone this week as its new Engine 3 completed initial assembly and officially entered final assembly, bringing the department one step closer to placing the apparatus into service.
With the truck now fully assembled as a complete unit, workers at Pierce Manufacturing are installing finishing components, integrating critical systems, and performing detailed quality checks and inspections. These final steps will prepare Engine 3 for testing and eventual delivery.
Department officials said the progress reflects a continued investment in firefighter safety and operational readiness, strengthening the department’s ability to respond quickly and safely in support of firefighters and the community. Additional updates are expected as Engine 3 moves through its final phases before deployment.
