This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BOZRAH, CT - At 2:12 P.M. on Monday, January 30th, the Bozrah, Colchester and Yantic Fire Departments with tankers from Salem, Gardner Lake and Lebanon with the Mohegan Tribal FAST and Montville Engine 12, were dispatched to 21 Stanton Hill Road for a house fire. Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications said the homeowner believed it started as a chimney fire and now had fire coming through the walls.

Engine 126 arrived at 2:22 P.M. with fire showing from the 'Bravo' side of a two-story wood-frame home. Engine 126 stretched a one-and-three-quarter inch hose line and knocked down a majority of the fire from the exterior and then went in the front door. Tanker 126 arrived next and nursed the engine. Engine 33 arrived and stretched a crosslay to the left side of the home so they could wet down that side again. Tanker 127 tied into Engine 33 and supplied them with water.

Ladder 128 backed into the driveway and flew their aerial to the roof. Ladder 128’s crew went to the basement where they found active fire running the ceiling. Crews opened up and knocked the fire in the basement as well as the exterior wall of the first and second floor.

Car 126 had command, while Car 128 had operations and Car 3 was accountability. The Bozrah Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
