City of Tonawanda Firefighters Rescue Driver Following Vehicle Crash Into Building
TONAWANDA, NY - At approximately 10:23 a.m. on January 8th, the City of Tonawanda Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Young and State Streets involving two vehicles, one of which struck a commercial building. Crews from B-shift arrived to find one vehicle in the roadway and a second positioned against the structure.
Due to limited access to one of the occupants and concerns for potential serious injuries, firefighters utilized the Jaws of Life from Rescue 4 to safely extricate the patient. One individual was transported to Erie County Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Fire Police units closed Young Street for several hours to ensure scene safety and manage traffic. A post-incident assessment confirmed no structural damage to the building.
