Early-Morning Garage Fire Damages Maple Shade Home

MAPLE SHADE, NJ - On January 23, 2026 at approximately 5:27 A.M., the Burlington County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Maple Shade Fire Department and mutual aid units to 62 W. Woodcrest Avenue in Maple Shade for the report of a dwelling fire.
Maple Shade Fire Chief, Andrew Simonsick, arrived and reported heavy fire showing from the garage and extending to the second floor of a 2-story, single-family dwelling.
Cherry Hill FD Engine 1352 was the first engine company to arrive, and quickly stretched a 1 3/4” handline to attack the fire. They made a quick hit of the garage and then moved to the interior to halt the rapid fire spread.
?Other units arrived soon after and stretched additional lines to extinguish the fire. Moorestown’s Lenola Ladder Company raised their main to make a roof cut.
The searches were negative, significant overhaul was performed, and the fire was brought under control within an hour.
