WALTHAM, MA - On January 26th, a Waltham firefighter doing a detail at Sanofi 200 West Street reported a 5-gallon spill in one of the labs of Diethyl Benezene. Waltham Engines 2 and 7, along with Rescue 1, Tower 1 and Medic 1 responded. An additional medic unit was also requested. Engine 7 first due reported that there were no injuries, however, due to the nature of the chemical, a Tier 1 hazmat incident was activated. Firefighters were on scene for about four hours while they cleared the building.
