Westville, NJ — January 24 — When a functioning commercial structure fire occurred in West Deptford, members of the Westville Fire Department responded as mutual aid. When the West Deptford Fire Department got on the site, a one-story business building was emitting a lot of smoke. After verifying that there was smoke throughout the building and fire conditions on the first level, they upgraded the incident to a working fire.

A 1½-inch handline was advanced by first-due personnel and subsequently strengthened with a 2½-inch blitz line. A second alarm was set off, and ladder companies were stationed in Divisions B and C. In order to assist firefighter safety during suppression operations, Wenonah and the Woodbury Heights Fire Department were assigned to the RIT Group, creating positions of accountability and safety.
