Deptford Township, NJ — 22nd January — A reported home fire in Deptford's Almonesson neighborhood prompted the dispatch of District 9 units. When Battalion Chief 9501 Battaglia arrived, he saw smoke coming from the back of the house. A career Engine 931 attacked a basement fire from the inside using two 1½-inch handlines. Next came Engine 933, which helped move the hose and laid a five-inch supply line to the Roberts Avenue hydrant. To assist with fireground operations, Career Quint 946 laddered the house. In about half an hour, the fire was contained. For assessment, one patient was taken to a nearby hospital. Union Fire Company #1 responded to the event. The fire remains under investigation by the Deptford Fire Marshal’s Office
